Each project is aligned with the goals of the EESA Strategic Vision. The EESA Early Career Development Grant (ECDG) program provides an opportunity for early career scientific staff to develop new concepts, tools, and approaches with the potential to complement/enhance existing EESA research programs, make progress on new EESA research directions, and/or to lay the foundation for future proposals.
The award recipients and project titles are as follows: Sara Gushgari Doyle, Machine Learning for Feature Identification in Uncultured Versus Cultured Microbial Genomes, Kripa Jagannathan, Leveraging Environmental Science for Societal Priorities: Translating Fundamental Research to Meaningful Actions, Gianna Marschmann, A Machine-Learning Approach to Connect Genome-Scale Metabolic and Substrate-Explicit Trait-Based Microbial Modeling, Linqing Luo, Distributed Soil Moisture Sensing With Fiber Optics, Daniel L. Eldridge, A Novel Isotopic Tracer For the Lifecycle of Molecular Hydrogen, and Pramod Bhuvankar, Development of a 3-D Pore-Scale Navier-Stokes Simulator to Simulate Multi-Phase Flows in Porous Media.
These ‘seed’ projects are expected to be completed within 12 – 18 months.
