Theresa Hennig
With my specialisation in geochemical process modelling, I am providing valuable contributions to finding solutions to highly relevant social issues such as the final disposal of high-level radioactive waste. My scientific interest as a postdoctoral researcher at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory focuses on the qualitative and quantitative unravelling of transport processes of radionuclides in argillaceous formations using reactive transport simulations. My training in the interdisciplinary field of geoecology at the University of Potsdam has provided me with a comprehensive understanding of environmental systems and processes. In my dissertation, I investigated the migration of uranium in the Opalinus Clay using reactive transport simulations, with a focus on quantifying the influence of geochemical processes on diffusive transport and sorption behaviour.
